The One-Person CFO Office
How ChatGPT, MCP and Claude are rebuilding finance around intelligence.
After DevDay, I couldn’t stop thinking about what happens when this finally reaches finance.
Before, I jumped between ERP, CRM, FP&A, and reporting tools. Soon, I’ll just talk. And the AI will connect it all. It will feel like having a team meeting, reviewing milestones, evaluating performance, and planning next steps.
Only this time, the conversation isn’t with people.
It’s with apps, MCP servers, and AI.
Right now, Stripe, NetSuite, and most financial tools aren’t available as ChatGPT Apps yet. But that will change fast. 3 months, maybe less.
Every major platform is racing to release their own integrations.
Here’s how I imagine it will look.
I’ll open ChatGPT, connect my finance stack, and simply start talking.
Check Stripe for duplicate transactions and mismatched journal entries.
ChatGPT will pull the exceptions, show me the issues, and draft a summary note for the audit log. No dashboards. No logins. Just a single line of instruction.
Compare this month’s MRR with forecast and highlight major variances.
It will pull the data directly from NetSuite or my FP&A model and instantly visualize the delta. No spreadsheets, no pivot tables.
Update our board deck with the revised numbers.
Canva will open right inside the chat. Figures will flow into the template.
Designs will appear. I’ll pick one, tweak a heading, export, and be done.
That’s the workflow I can already see forming.
When that happens, I won’t be managing systems anymore.
I’ll be speaking to them.
The chat window will become my finance command center.
A single space that can read, reason, and act.
A CFO who can think, decide, and act in real time without friction. Because once NetSuite, Stripe, and your favorite SaaS tool become apps inside ChatGPT, the barrier between thinking and doing will disappear.
The AI will become your operator. You’ll become the strategist.
The closer I get to it, the more I realize this isn’t about AI helping finance.
This is finance, rebuilt around intelligence itself.
I’m excited to write today’s letter. In a few moments you’ll know how fast the CFO role is changing and how AI is working inside finance.
In the paid part of this edition, I’ll show a live Claude–Stripe MCP workflow I just tested, where the AI pulls and models live financial data and how I’m using the brand-new ChatGPT Apps to turn numbers into a visual story inside Canva.
Let’s dive in.
